THE ALLURE OF ISOLATION
"People applying for citizenship here are required to have spent 70 percent of the previous five years living in the country, and to commit to living in it afterward."
I could think of worse places to live.

FOR THE LOVE OF: AGATHA CHRISTIE
"Agatha Christie wrote more than 200 novels, stories and plays, from 'The Mysterious Affair at Styles' (1920) to 'Sleeping Murder' (1976)."
Her description of Hercule Poirot was so masterful that I always felt I could see him clearly in any scene from her books. Saw "The Mousetrap" in London in 1968.

U.N. WILL END ITS PEACEKEEPING MISSION IN HAITI
"A cholera outbreak in Haiti, which began in 2010 after a deadly strain was introduced during a United Nations mission, has killed at least 9,500 people so far and infected hundreds of thousands of Haitians."
Shame on the U.N. Apologies and promises of compensation (accompanied by zero dollars) are not enough. Fix this. Nikki R. Haley.
NEW TOOLS ARE NEEDED TO TRACK TECHNOLOGY'S IMPACT ON JOBS, PANEL SAYS
"A scientific method for measuring the national economy wasn't established until 1934."
Definitely time for an update. But if Trump doesn't like the figures, it'll still be "fake news."

SOCIAL INVESTING ENTICES CONVERTS
"By law, tax-exempt foundations must spend at least 5 percent of their endowments every year on charitable purposes."
Why should this be like pulling teeth?

PLUMES FROM A SATURNIAN MOON HINT THAT IT COULD SUPPORT LIFE
"The tidal forces of Saturn pulling and squeezing its moon Enceladus appear to generate enough heat to melt the moon's ice ... Cassini's mission finally ends with a crash into Saturn's atmosphere in September."
I sure hope Cassini doesn't land on any Tiny Life Forms:

CANADIAN LEADER UNVEILS A BILL TO LEGALIZE RECREATIONAL MARIJUANA
"If a bill by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau passes as expected, Canada will become only the second nation, after Uruguay, to completely legalize marijuana as a consumer product."

ONLINE UPSTARTS SEEK TO SHAKE UP USED-CAR BUYING
"More than 38.5 million used cars were sold last year. By contrast, 17.2 million new vehicles are forecast to be sold this year."
Start-ups like Shift (I predict major success) are smart because they seem to make customer service a priority. They understand that they will bleed money for several years, at least (these guys got $75 mil from Goldman Sachs, DFJ and Highland Capital Partners), so investing in little things like driving the car directly to your house for test drives is a super-smart move. I shift you not.
